Guest Lecture Series by Mr. Srinivasan from Tubes India
As the saying goes ‘A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step’, the corporate lecture series at BIM, Trichy kicked off successfully on the 16th of December 2013. With a battery of lectures arranged from the who’s who of the corporate world, the learning curve for the students has never been steeper.
The guest for the day was Mr.K.Srinivasan – GM (South & East) Tube Products of India, Murugappa Group. The discussion was on Marketing Strategy, a topic of high relevance considering the rapidly changing customer preferences in today’s world. The session was highly interactive and Mr. Srinivasan walked the students through his experiences in his own style coupled with a dose of humor. He emphasized on the need to take strategic calls by knowing one’s strengths and weaknesses. Deep insights were provided about the B2B market space. He challenged the budding managers by throwing at them some real world scenarios faced by the corporate and stimulated their minds to understand some of the complex challenges in the industry. Further, he stressed on the need to maintain a balance between acquiring new customers and retaining the existing ones where one must never happen at the cost of another in order to ensure sustained growth.
He closed off by providing his experiences in the industry especially while putting the South region on the growth trajectory. This was a unique opportunity for the students for learning from the master himself about the nuances of managerial decision making which a much required skill is considering the cut throat competition today. It was thus evident that the guest had just widened the horizon for the students who were well on their way to becoming great leaders.
