Placement Report 2008

BIM once again proves its position as a premier B-School through its recently concluded placement season. Like last year, the institute concluded its placements by the end of Day 1 and the profiles and salaries offered only affirm the faith of the corporate in the talent of our students. Over the last 24 years, BIM has emerged as a top quality B-school with students specializing in Marketing, Finance, HR, Systems and Operations. The major recruiters included the big multinational companies from Consulting, Financial Services, IT & IT Services, and FMCG.

Out of the 52 companies which registered for placement process this year, only 30 companies could recruit as the entire batch got placed by the end of day 1. A host of new recruiters participated in the placement process this year. This year the new recruiters on campus were 3i Infotech, Deloitte, GE Capital, HUL, HSBC Bank, ICRA, IMaCS, IOCL, JP Morgan, STCI and VSNL.

For the 108 students who registered for the placement process, total number of offers received was 118. This year 14 pre-placement offers were made by top rung companies across various sectors like FMCG, IT and BFSI. The average salary which has been increasing over the years, this time touched a new high of Rs. 8.20 lakhs p.a, an increase of 17% over the previous year. The median salary reached Rs. 7.87 lakhs p.a. The highest offer on campus was Rs. 10.71 Lakhs p.a. The minimum accepted salary this year was Rs. 5.5 lakhs p.a.

The Director and Placement Chairman, Prof. M Sankaran expressing his satisfaction with the placement process said, "BIM has now moved beyond just 100% placements or chart-topping salaries. Giving every student a chance to get their dream profiles is our focus and this year's placements prove just that." All recruiters without exception appreciated the smooth and professional management of the placement process and commended the quality of students. Satisfaction among recruiters as well students stands testimony to the success of Placements 2008 at BIM.
